Proper service for BBQ, Crawfish, Shrimp and Lobster boils

There are no plates used EVER!  BBQ is served on butcher paper with slices of white bread (has to be white bread) with pickle and onion slices.  Several stacks of napkins or paper towels are placed around the table.  Optional sides are cream corn, beans,  mac n cheese,  in paper cups with a plastic spoon.

For the boils, there is the option of serving on beer trays or a table covered with newspaper and the food is dumped in the middle.  Again with the paper towels and napkins.

A nice touch in both cases is cold beverages and wet naps.  Unless weather is not cooperating, eat outside.

All three are really ment to be served at community tables.  Make a new friend.  Re-connect with a family member.

I despise Microwaves

Sure , once upon a time they were helpful to the family.  Now it seems the “cooking” method of choice.  Nothing says I care about feeding my friends and family like standing around a microbox.  Really brings everyone together.

The boxes have bake potato and pop corn buttons.  They are wrong in the “cook” time (I tried to use it a few times-Fail) and if one was to read the ingredient list on a bag of nuke pop corn?  Only a scientist would know what the hell that shit might be.  Hell, the USDA is kind of iffy on waved food like stuff.

It takes less time from start to finish to make lasagna from scratch than a frozen stuffybrand.

The kids table during the family and friends gatherings

It used to really (and still does when I see it in practice today) to sit at the “Children’s/Kid’s” table. Are we not all someones child no matter our age? Isn’t the point of the gathering together? To break bread and share stories and information with each other? Why keep younger folks away from the wiser (sometimes) folks?
To me, the other table for youngsters is only showing disrespect and sending the message that the youngster have no value and a distraction. Seriously, the parents spend too much time having to go back and forth between the tables to cut food for the little ones etc.
Stepping down from soap box (for now)
